Oh, fear not ye restless soul
The sights you’ve seen have yet be told
One Innocent man, one redeemed brother
And a failure to spare another
One short walk was how it got its start
One lucky roll and they cast the lot
Piece by piece they took his dignity
Less and less you found serenity
Cries of Joy, Cries of pain
They begin to chant and scream his name
“Crucify Him, Crucify Him!”
As His eyes grow weary and dim
A soldier mocks him as the crowd roars
“Get up oh great Lord of Lords!”
And yet Innocence lay still
To His feet they make Him stand
A cross now lay upon this man
“March on ye ‘King of Kings’”
If only he knew what Innocence brings
Through the crowd and through the city they marched
Torn and Beaten, Broken and parched
One foot after another he moves on
Until his strength hath gone
Fallen upon both knees, looking as a bow
“Get up oh great ‘Lord of Lords’, and get up now!”
Then they chose me from the crowd
To carry the cross through the town
And finally upon His cross He lay
Nails through his hands and feet, but no words need he say
For innocence lay still
Raised to the Heavens was He
Hatred and malice all He could see
But Beauty and Love drew near
As a mother screamed and shed a tear
He opens His mouth as If right on queue
“Father forgive them, for they know not what they do”
And a quite and calmness went out through the land
To only be disturbed by gestures of hand
And along Him, two thieves held in the sky
Two different men, with two different sides
One who spat and cursed His name
And one who gives Innocence no Blame
Pain began so much to bare
And the nails slowly began to tear
But Innocence lay still
Then a cry towards heaven suddenly
“My God, My God. Why have you forsaken me?”
What God did this man speak of?
For I saw nothing in the clouds above
And then I realized who this man might be
The miracle worker from Galilee
From the blood soaked body I barely recognized
This was the man who healed the blind mans eyes
In the name of the Lord He did that wonder!
But then my memory was torn by thunder
For the ground shook and the veil was torn
And ignorant bliss became forlorn
Then the man raised his chest for one last breath to get
“Father, into your hands I commend my Spirit.”
And Innocence lay still
